The hackers who hacked 'Hacking Team' post DIY manual online
In July last year, Hacking Team, the company that creates hacking spyware tools for governments worldwide, was hacked. The hackers released 400GB of data. Now almost a year later someone who calls himself Phineas Fisher's has posted a DIY instructional manual online.The DIY talks about how the hack unfolded, including how the hacker gained entry point into Hacking Team's infrastructure. According to the post, hackers gained entry through was a zero-day root exploit in an embedded device that was deployed inside the company's corporate network.
However, he didn't give more details on the embedded device.
Recently, US judge sentenced journalist Matthew Keys to two years in prison for helping members of the Anonymous hacking collective gain access to a former employer's computers.
Keys was indicted in 2013 for conspiracy to cause damage to a protected computer and two other counts, after being accused of giving hackers access to Tribune computer systems in December 2010. He was found guilty by a California jury last October.
